Pookaran

About us

Flowers made where they are given

Pookaran sends flowers across ten countries without shipping a single stem. When you order, we arrange it with an independent florist in the recipient's own city, who makes it by hand and delivers it in person.

What does the name mean?

Pookaran — Tamil பூக்காரன் — means “flower seller”. It is the word for the person who actually stands behind the stall or the shop counter and hands you the flowers, which is the relationship the whole company is built to preserve across distance.

How is this different from ordering flowers online?

Most international flower delivery is a logistics business wearing a florist’s apron. Stems are cut, graded and packed in a warehouse, then couriered in a box. They arrive closed, often bruised, and the recipient has to find a vase and hope they open.

Pookaran works the way flowers worked before that: a florist near the recipient buys stems fresh, arranges them by hand, and delivers them in person. The flowers travel a few miles, not a few thousand. Nothing is boxed and nothing is posted, on any order, in any country.

How does an order work?

You choose the arrangement, the delivery city and the date on this site. We save the order and open a WhatsApp conversation with the details written out. There we confirm everything with you, send a secure payment link, and arrange the order with an independent florist near the delivery address, who makes it and delivers it.

We are a young service and we say so plainly: we do not yet have a network of partner florists. We arrange each order individually with a local florist, and we will build long-term partnerships as orders grow.

Where does Pookaran deliver?

118 cities across 10 countries. Each country has a published delivery fee, delivery days and a same-day cut-off, and every page on this site quotes those same terms.

Why are prices shown in the delivery country's currency?

Because that is the currency the order is made and paid for in, so the price you see is the price on your payment link. You can view an estimate in your own currency with the switcher at the top of the page.

If you send flowers to two countries in one basket, it becomes two orders — two florists, two currencies, two payments. We would rather explain that once than average away a real difference.

What we will not do

  • Publish reviews or star ratings we have not earned. When ratings appear on this site they will come from people who received flowers from us.
  • Claim partner florists, shop names or years of trading that are not ours to claim.
  • Sell a timed delivery slot we cannot hold.
  • Post flowers in a box and call it florist delivery.
